The Intel Extreme Masters Rio 2024 will start on October 7 and run till October 13 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Organised by ESL, IEM Rio 2024 is a marquee international Counter-Strike 2 tournament, which is part of the eSports season. 

The playoffs of the upcoming S-Tier Counter-Strike 2 tournament will be held at the Farmasi Arena in Rio de Janeiro.

Team Vitality won the previous edition of the Intel Extreme Masters Rio in April 2023.

IEM Rio 2024 schedule and format

The IEM Rio 2024 will be staged in two phases - Group Stage and Playoffs.

As many as 16 teams will compete in the IEM Rio 2024 group stage from October 7-9. These teams have been divided into two double-elimination format (GSL) groups of eight teams each.

The opening group matches will be staged in a best-of-one while the following matches will be held in a best-of-three series.

The top three teams from each group will progress to the playoffs. The group stage winners will advance to the Semifinals, the runners-up will move to the Quarterfinals as the High Seeds, and third-placed teams advance to the Quarterfinals as the Low Seeds.

Meanwhile, the IEM Rio 2024 playoffs will be staged in a single-elimination bracket from October 11-13. All playoff matches will be in best-of-three series.

IEM Rio 2024 prize pool

The IEM Rio 2024 has a total prize pool of 250,000 USD. The winner will receive a cash prize of 100,000 USD and will also qualify for IEM Katowice 2025. The runner-up will bag 42,000 USD while the third and fourth-placed teams will get 20,000 USD each.
