Street Fighter V at Asian Games 2023: Know schedule, teams and format - watch live in India

Street Fighter V will be one of the seven esports events that will be staged at Asian Games 2023 to be held in Hangzhou, China, from September 23 to October 8.

Developed by Capcom and Dimps and published by Capcom for PlayStation 4 and Windows in 2016, Street Fighter V is a 2.5D fighting game.

World’s leading Street Fighter V gamers will represent their respective nations for the top prize at Hangzhou 2023.

Apart from Street Fighter V, Arena of Valor (Asian Games version), Dota 2, Dream Three Kingdoms 2, FIFA Online 4, League of Legends and PUBG Mobile (Asian Games version) are the other esports medal events at Asiad 2023.

All esports games at Asian Games 2023 will be played at the Xiacheng District Esports Venue, later renamed as China Hangzhou Esports Centre.

Interestingly, esports will make its debut at Asian Games after debuting as a demonstration sport at the 2018 edition in Indonesia.

Asian Games 2023 Street Fighter V schedule

The Street Fighter event at Asian Games 2023 will start on Tuesday, September 26 and run till Thursday, September 28.

The Playoffs will begin on September 26, while the semi-finals are scheduled for September 27. 

The gold medal and bronze medal matches will be held on September 28.

Asian Games 2023 Street Fighter V teams and rosters

A total of 16 participants from eight different nations will take part in the Street Fighter V esports event at Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China.

Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea and Vietnam are the eight teams that are expected to compete for the coveted gold medal in the Street Fighter V event at Asiad 2023.

Asian Games 2023 Street Fighter V format

The Street Fighter V competition at Asian Games 2023 will be held in two stages - Preliminary Stage and the Main Bracket.

As per the format, the Preliminary Stage will be played only if there are more than 32 players. Matches will be contested in a single-elimination format. The top 16 players will advance to the main bracket.

The main bracket of the Street Fighter V event will be held in a double-elimination format. Each match will be played in a best-of-three series.

However, the Street Fighter V Grand Final will not be contested in a double-elimination bracket and will follow the single-elimination format instead.
