PUBG Mobile will be one of the seven eSports events to be staged at Asian Games 2023 to be held in Hangzhou, China, from September 23 to October 8.
Developed by LightSpeed & Quantum Studio, a division of Tencent Games, PUBG Mobile is a free-to-play battle royale video game. The popular mobile game is an adaptation of PUBG: Battlegrounds.
An Asian Games version of PUBG Mobile event will see top esports athletes from across Asia battle for one of the three top medals at Hangzhou 2023.
As per the new version to be played at Asiad 2023, a total of 16 players will be involved in the action with four players each assembling as a team in every game.
The event will witness multiple stages, and there are missions of target shooting to be completed at every stage.
After the conclusion of the shooting mission, every team needs to drive their vehicle to complete the track as well. The ranking will be based on the order in which the participating teams arrive at the finishing line.
Every PUBG Mobile game at Asian Games 2023 will have a duration of 30 minutes.

Asian Games 2023 PUBG Mobile teams
A total of 21 teams will compete for the coveted gold medal in the PUBG Mobile esports event at Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China.
Mongolia, Maldives and Japan are the three teams that will feature in the Qualification Round.
Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Jordan, Laos, Macao, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan and Vietnam are the 14 teams that will take part in the Preliminary Round.
Hosts China, Thailand, Palestine and Kazakhstan have directly qualified for the knockout rounds as the Road to Asian Games regional champions.
Asian Games 2023 PUBG Mobile format
The PUBG Mobile esports event at Asian Games 2023 will be held in various stages.
As per the format, PUBG Mobile tournament will kick off with the qualification round. The top two teams among Mongolia, Maldives and Japan will advance to Preliminary Round 1.
In PUBG Mobile Preliminary Round 1, as many as 16 teams have been divided into four groups of four teams each.
While Group A features Uzbekistan, Jordan, Hong Kong and Laos, Group B includes Philippines, Macao, Sri Lanka and Chinese Taipei.
South Korea, Vietnam, Nepal and one of the qualified teams will be placed in Group C, while the likes of Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Myanmar and a top-placed qualified team will be clubbed in Group D.
The top seven teams - four group winners and the three best group runners-up - will progress to the Knockout Round. The remaining nine countries will move to Preliminary Round 2.
In Preliminary Round 2, a total of 10 teams will be split into a group of four and two groups of three each.
The top five teams - three group winners and the best two group runners-up - will advance to the Knockout Round. The remaining five teams will be knocked out.
In the Knockout Round, as many as 16 teams will be divided into four groups of four teams each. The four Road to Asian Games regional winners are placed in separate groups.
The top two teams from each group will move to Semi-Finals. The remaining countries will be eliminated.
In the Semi-finals, eight teams will be split into two groups of four teams each based on their placement in the Knockout Round.
The top two teams from each group will storm into the Finals. The remaining four countries will be eliminated. The Final for PUBG Mobile at Asian Games 2023 will take place on October 1.
