The Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) Masters Series Season 2 began on August 4 and will conclude on August 27 in Delhi, India.
Organised by NODWIN Gaming in collaboration with Star Sports, the BGMS Season 2 has 24 teams competing for a total prize pool of INR 2.1 crore, which is one of the largest prize pools for a non-publisher competition.
The offline event will be held in three phases - the League Stage, the Playoffs and Grand Finals.
As per the BGMS Season 2 format, the Launch Week will witness each team play a total of six matches over three days. The points accrued from this round will count towards the overall standings of the League Stage.
Following the BGMS Launch Week, these 24 teams will be seeded into three groups of eight each. The top 16 teams will qualify for Super Weekend 1. The remaining teams will wait for League Week 2.
The top four teams from overall standings (Launch Week + Super Weekend 1) will advance to Super Weekend 2. They will also feature in League Week 2.
The 24 teams will then participate in League Week 2, with the top 12 teams advancing to Super Weekend 2.
The Super Weekend will see 16 qualified teams including the top 12 teams of League Week 2 and top four teams of the overall league standings compete in nine matches.
The overall standings of the League Stage will comprise the points accumulated during Launch Week and Super Weekend 1 and 2.
The top four teams from the overall standings will seal their spots in the Grand Finale, while the teams ranked from fifth to 20th will feature in the Playoffs. The four bottom-placed teams (21st to 24th) will be eliminated from the BGMS Season 2.
In the BGMS Season 2 Playoffs, the 12 remaining finalists will be determined. Only six matches will be played between 16 teams.
The BGMS Season 2 Grand Finale will see the top four teams from the league stage and the top 12 teams from the Playoffs battle for the coveted title. The squad with the most points after all matches will be crowned BGMS Season 2 winner.
