The recently concluded ODI series between India and Australia turned out to be a timely reminder for the hosts. An all-conquering Indian side was beat 2-3 by Australia with the matches been evenly poised for large portions.

Leading the Aussie assault was Pat Cummins, who ended the series with the highest number of wickets (14). Not much far was Adam Zampa, who ended the series with 11 wickets, giving Australia a much-needed depth in their spin bowling department. Now heading into their series against Pakistan in the UAE, Zampa believes that his show in India has helped him cement his place in the ODI squad. "It's nice to make an impact, particularly in the middle overs. [I am] trying to figure out my role in ODI cricket. After that [India] series, I feel pretty confident about my role in the team," Zampa was quoted as saying to the ICC.
Zampa made his international debut in 2016 and has been in and out of the squad ever since. The 26-year-old, however, believes that the initial phase has taught him not to take anything for granted. "Throughout my short career, I have found that it can change really quickly. I started my career really well, but I have had some ups and downs. I am trying to build on the momentum I have. It will be pretty great, but, honestly, I know what’s it like to be in and out of the team and to be dropped from the squad altogether," he said.
Australia play Pakistan in a 5-match ODI series later this month, their last series before the World Cup in England. And Zampa said that the team will look to carry on the momentum after their come-from-behind win against India.
"Our confidence is high, but we have spoken about not taking Pakistan easy. They are one of the best teams in the world in white-ball cricket at the moment," he said. "It's important to us in our preparations for the World Cup. But it's also important to keep that momentum going. It's going to be a good series," said the 26-year-old.
