The Women’s East Asia Cup 2024 will commence at the Yeonhui Cricket Ground in Incheon, South Korea on Tuesday, October 8.

Defending Champion Hong Kong face Japan in the opening match scheduled to start at 6:30 AM IST on Tuesday. China will meet Mongolia in the second match of the day slated at 10:30 AM IST.

Host South Korea round off the five-nation tournament that will see a total of 12 matches, 20 overs a side, with the final happening on October 13. 

All matches in the Women’s East Asia Cup 2024 will be hosted at the same venue in Incheon.

The Women’s East Asia Cup 2024 will see the number of participating teams go up from three in the previous edition to five in the upcoming edition. 

This year’s tournament will see South Korea returning to the fold again along with newcomers Mongolia. China, Japan and Hong Kong.

Each team will play the other four sides once in a single round-robin format with the top two teams proceeding to the final. The tournament will also have a third-place playoff match between the sides that finish third and fourth in the table.

Hong Kong are the highest-ranked side in the Women’s East Asia Cup 2024 at 22nd place as per ICC’s latest ranking list. Meanwhile, China and Japan are ranked at 49th and 51th respectively. 

Mongolia is in the 65th spot whereas South Korea are yet to be ranked as per the current list.

Incidentally, Hong Kong had won the previous edition of the Women’s East Asia Cup in 2023 after beating China in the Super Over after scores were level at the end of 20 overs.
