With the World Test Championship (WTC) final that begins next Friday just a week away, rumours are rife that Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been hit by a Mohammed Shami bouncer in a practice session. Shami’s bouncer may have thrown a spanner in the works for India’s preparation for the WTC final, if rumours ruling the Indian skipper out of action for 3-6 weeks are to be believed.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday shared their first practice video after the players were allowed to come out of isolation. There has been no official confirmation on the news yet but Indian fans will be waiting with bated breath for speculation to clear.
“There was such a rumour that Virat Kohli was not completely fit and in the practice sessions where Shami’s ball hit him. He has [a] side strain but it is nothing like that. And it is all rumours and Virat Kohli is completely fit,” said Vikrant Gupta during a discussion on Aaj Tak.
Meanwhile, Virat’s counterpart, Kane Williamson is nursing an injury to his left elbow and is sitting out the ongoing second Test versus England. He is expected to be fit in time for the WTC final, which will be held from June 18 to June 22 at the Rose Bowl.
