Indian captain Virat Kohli, on Monday, was adjudged as the International Batsman and Cricketer of the year during the CEAT Cricket Rating (CCR) International awards 2019.
Kohli, however, couldn’t make it to the ceremony which was held in Mumbai.
Meanwhile, bowler Jasprit Bumrah – who was instrumental in Mumbai’s fourth Indian T20 League triumph on Sunday – was named as the International Bowler of the Year.
Furthermore, the likes of Cheteshwar Pujara and Kuldeep Yadav were given the honours of International Test cricketer of the year and Outstanding Performance of the Year respectively.
Mumbai captain, Rohit Sharma, on the other hand, was named as the International ODI Cricketer of the Year. Australia captain, Aaron Finch was named as the International T20 Player of the Year. Afghanistan spinner, Rashid Khan was honoured as the International T20 Bowler of the Year.
Former Indian cricketer, Mohinder Amarnath – who was a key member of India’s World Cup triumph in 1983 – was honoured by the Lifetime Achievement Award. The memento was given by Sunil Gavaskar, who went on to say; "Jimmy (Amarnath) and I go back a long way. We have known each other since the days we played Cooch Behar Trophy together.
"I don't think any other batsman played fast bowling as good as Jimmy. He was the best batsman between 1982 and 1985," Gavaskar added.
