The United Arab Emirates national cricket team will lock horns with New Zealand in a three-match T20 international series starting on Thursday, August 17 in Dubai, UAE.
Ranked 16th in the ICC Men’s T20I rankings, UAE will aim to test themselves against a strong opposition ahead of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier 2023.
The top two teams from the upcoming ICC Men's T20 World Cup Asia Regional Final will advance to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 to be held in the West Indies and the United States.
Meanwhile, the hosts are yet to announce their squad for the three-match T20I series.
On the other hand, the New Zealand national cricket team will be without several of their first team T20I stars. The Kiwis will miss the services of Kane Williamson, Devon Conway, Finn Allen, Glenn Phillips, Ish Sodhi, Matt Henry, Adam Milne and Daryl Mitchell.
World’s third-ranked T20I side New Zealand will field a second-string squad to be led by veteran pacer Tim Southee.
The visitors have handed maiden T20I call-ups to all-rounder Dean Foxcroft and leg-spinner Adi Ashok.
Fast bowler Kyle Jamieson has also returned to the New Zealand’s 15-man T20I squad after recovering from a serious back injury.
This will be the first meeting between New Zealand and UAE in T20I cricket and all matches will be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
