India’s Rohit Sharma once again stamped his authority as one of the finest limited-overs batsmen of the generation with another century at the 2019 ICC World Cup at Headingly on Saturday. The Mumbai batsman was in full flow against Sri Lanka in an inconsequential group game as he smashed a fluent 103 to put India firmly in the driver’s seat as they chased down 265.
This was Rohit’s fifth ton of this World Cup and sixth in the two editions he’s played so far. The number too him one ahead of Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara as the player to score most number of centuries in a single World Cup and also helped him also equal cricketing great Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most number of tons at the World Cup.
He reached his century off 92 balls with 14 fours and two sixes but was dismissed shortly afterwards, caught by Angelo Mathews off the bowling of Kasun Rajitha. And not surprisingly, the social media world was all praise for the Indian HITMAN!!!
In last 365 days, Rohit Sharma has aggregated a mind-boggling 2063 runs in 34 innings with 10 hundreds.

Only two men in 142 years history of international cricket have scored 5 centuries in one series/tournament. Rohit Sharma in WC 2019 and Sir Clyde Walcott in a Test series vs Aus in 1955. #CWC19
