Upcoming Indian pacer Arjun Tendulkar was spotted bowling in the nets in the England camp earlier this week, to help prepare the hosts against left arm quicks of Australia and New Zealand. The teenager was a constant menace for the English batsmen like Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow and Jos Buttler, regularly beating their inside edge with his swing and pace.

The 19-year-old has been playing club cricket in the UK for a past couple of months, playing for the Marylebone Cricket Club. He had a great outing in the game against Surrey, picking up two wickets including an absolute jaffa of a yorker to dismiss their opener Nathan Tilley.

Performing admirably in foreign conditions, Tendulkar proved his versatility as he was able to adapt to the swinging conditions of England. That hasn’t been an anomaly for the youngster, as he set the Indian domestic circuit ablaze with his spectacular performances. In May this year, he was the most expensive player at the T20 Mumbai auctions — a franchise-based tournament played between the best cricketers of the city.
Tendulkar was the second highest wicket-taker for his team in the league with five scalps, and also contributed more than a hundred runs with the bat. Although he was playing his first ever franchise- based tournament at a professional level, the left-arm seamer did not let the weight of the competition affect him and helped his team get till the semi-finals.
Apart from the T20 Mumbai league, Tendulkar has also showed his prowess in the Indian U-19 domestic circuit, starring for Mumbai for with 18 wickets in the Cooch Behar Trophy in 2017. Those performances helped him nab a place in the India U-19 team as well and was part of the Test squad toured Sri Lanka last year. India managed a whitewash in that series, with Tendulkar picking up three wickets.
Be it franchise cricket, U-19 Internationals or unsettling the very best at the sport, Arjun Tendulkar has impressed all whenever called upon. With India having a dearth of left-arm pacers of late, the 19-year-old sure has a bright future ahead of him.
