The Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2023 will start on Monday, June 12 and run till Wednesday, July 12.
Organised by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA), the TNPL 2023 will feature eight teams representing eight districts of the southern-most state of India.
The likes of T Natarajan, Varun Chakravarthy, Shahrukh Khan, B Sai Sudharsan and Vijay Shankar are likely to take part in the upcoming edition of the TNPL.
Chepauk Super Gillies, Dindigul Dragons, IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans, Lyca Kovai Kings, Nellai Royal Kings, Ruby Trichy Warriors, Salem Spartans and Siechem Madurai Panthers are the eight teams that will compete in the seventh edition of the T20 tournament.
Eight teams will play against each other in a round-robin format. The top four teams will qualify for the TNPL 2023 playoffs, comprising Qualifier 1, Eliminator, Qualifier 2 and the final.
The top-two placed teams will lock horns in the Qualifier 1 to book their place in the TNPL final. On the other hand, teams placed third and fourth after the league phase will face each other in the Eliminator.
The winner of the Eliminator and the loser of Qualifier 1 will clash in Qualifier 2 for a place in the summit clash.
A total of 32 matches will be played across four venues in Tamil Nadu. The TNPL 2023 final will be played at the Indian Cement Company Ground in Tirunelveli.
The other three venues for TNPL 2023 are SNR College Cricket Ground in Coimbatore, NPR College Ground in Dindigul and Salem’s SCF Ground.
Chepauk Super Gillies and Lyca Kovai Kings were joint-winners of the last edition after the final was abandoned due to rain. Chepauk Super Gillies are the most successful team in the competition with four titles.
