With less than three weeks to go before the 2020 season of the Indian T20 League kicks off, Chennai continues to face challenges. Just a day after it was revealed that multiple members of the squad had tested positive for the global virus, Suresh Raina has returned home to India and will miss the season entirely.
Citing personal reasons, the 33-year-old Raina, who recently announced his retirement from international cricket just minutes after his Chennai teammate and friend MS Dhoni did the same, boarded a flight out of the UAE to return to India.
The decision has been supported by the squad, as per a tweet on their official handle by team CEO Kasi Viswanathan which said, "Suresh Raina has returned to India for personal reasons and will be unavailable for the remainder of the IPL season. Chennai Super Kings offers complete support to Suresh and his family during this time."
