The Sri Lanka vs India T20Is 2024 will start on July 27 and run till July 30 in Pallekele, Sri Lanka. It will be the first assignment for India's new head coach, Gautam Gambhir.
Sri Lanka are all set to host the T20 world champions India for a three-match T20I series at home, which will be followed by an ODI series later.
India are currently leading the ICC Men’s T20I rankings, while the Lankans are placed eight on the standings.
Interestingly, Sri Lanka have named a 16-member squad for the T20Is led by Charith Asalanka.
Asalanka, who has led Jaffna Kings to a title win in the recently concluded Lanka Premier League, replaces Wanindu Hasaranga as Sri Lanka’s T20I captain.
The revamped Sri Lanka squad sees veterans Angelo Mathews and Dhananjaya de Silva drop out and other senior players Dinesh Chandimal and Kusal Perera making a comeback.
Additionally, an uncapped 21-year-old Chamindu Wickramasinghe, Binura Fernando and Avishka Fernando have also found themselves in the T20I squad.
Meanwhile, these T20Is will also be the first assignment for Suryakumar Yadav as India’s new T20I skipper as he looks to play a vital role in the build-up for the upcoming T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka in 2026.
Star batter, Shubman Gill, who captained India against Zimbabwe in a five-match T20I series, will now play deputy to Suryakumar in the series.
The likes of Rinku Singh, Riyan Parag, Sanju Samson, and Washington Sundar have also found a place in the T20I squad.
As per the Sri Lanka vs India T20Is 2024 schedule, Sri Lanka will take on India in the first T20I on July 27. The final T20I of the series will be played on July 30.
All Sri Lanka vs India T20Is 2024 matches will be played at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele.
