The South American Men’s Cricket Championship 2024 will commence in Brazil on October 10.

Mexico will meet Peru at the Sao Fernando Polo and Cricket Club in Seropedica while Panama will be up against Uruguay at the Sao Fernando Polo and Cricket Club, Campo Sede in Itaguai on Thursday. 

The opening set of matches will commence at 5:30 PM IST while the remaining two matches will start at 9:30 PM IST. 

The South American Men’s Championship 2024 will have eight teams, split into two groups, vying for the title in a total of 16 matches to be played over four days. 

Host Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and Peru are in Group A while defending champion Argentina, Panama, Uruguay and Chile will be part of Group B.

Each team will play against the other three sides in the group once in a single round-robin format with the top two teams from each group qualifying for the semi-finals. The winners of each semi-final will proceed to the final with the losers involved in a third-place playoff match.

The matches will be split between the two venues in Seropedica and Itaguai with the final slated for Sunday, October 13 at Itaguai.

Argentina are the top-ranked team in the South American Men’s Championship 2024 at 57th spot whereas Panama are ranked 76th in ICC’s latest list of rankings for T20Is. All the other teams are yet to be ranked as per ICC’s current ranking list.

Argentina won the last edition of the tournament at home in October 2023. They beat Uruguay by 34 runs in the final at Buenos Aires.
