The South Africa vs Pakistan Test 2024 series will start in Centurion on Thursday, December 26.
As per the South Africa vs Pakistan Test 2024 schedule, the first game will be played at the SuperSport Park in Centurion.
The second and final Test is scheduled to be held at the Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town starting on January 3, 2025.
The upcoming two-match Test series is part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25.
South Africa are currently third in the ICC men’s Test team rankings while Pakistan are ranked seventh.
Having registered six wins, one draw and three losses, South Africa are currently placed on top of the WTC 2023-25 standings with a points percentage of 63.33.
The Proteas only need to win one of their two Tests against Pakistan to secure a place in the WTC 2025 final.
Ahead of the crucial Test series, the South Africa national cricket team has announced their 16-man squad to be led by Temba Bavuma.
All-rounder Corbin Bosch and left-arm pacer Kwena Maphaka have been included in South Africa’s Test squad.
Despite injuries, Wiaan Mulder and Keshav Maharaj have also been added to the squad.
On the other hand, the Pakistan national cricket team will head into the Test series brimming with confidence as they became the first team to whitewash South Africa (3-0) in an ODI bilateral series at home.
Meanwhile, the visitors will be led by Shan Masood in the two-match Test series in South Africa.
Star pacer Shaheen Afridi will skip the Test series ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy next year.
Babar Azam and Naseem Shah have made a comeback in Pakistan’s Test squad. The duo were dropped after the first Test against England.
Mohammad Abbas, Khurram Shahzad and Mir Hamza have also been included in the Test squad. However, there was no place for off-spinner Sajid Khan despite his impressive form at home against England.
With four victories and six defeats, Pakistan are placed seventh in the WTC 2023-25 standings and are out of contention for the final.
