Australia is on track for a clean sweep in Sri Lanka after a strong day two in the second Test in Galle. Steve Smith and Alex Carey built a great partnership. Australia finished at 330-3, beating Sri Lanka’s first-innings score of 257. Smith scored 120 not out and Carey made 139 not out. Together, they added 239 runs, giving Australia control of the game.

After Australia struggled at 2-37, Smith led the comeback. His 36th Test century, full of strong cover drives and even a reverse sweep, showed his skill despite a tough pitch. Smith also passed Ricky Ponting to become Australia’s top run-scorer in Asia.

Carey moved up to No. 5 because Josh Inglis got injured. In his second Test century, he showed powerful sweep shots, including a famous reverse lap. This earned him a solid place in the team.
