The SA20 2025 Auction is set to be held on October 1 in Capetown, South Africa. The action will begin at 7:45 PM IST.
The build-up to the third edition of the SA20 begins here as Cricket South Africa is all set for the player auctions on October 1 in Cape Town.
With 19 slots to be filled by the franchises, more than 180 players will go under the hammer on the auction day. However, most of the teams have already finalised their squads through retentions and pre-signings.
Each team has 19 player slots in the final squad: 1 Wildcard, 1 Rookie player and the remaining 17 players. A minimum of 10 South African players and a maximum of 7 overseas players are allowed to be added to the squad.
The players who enter the auction will have a set reserve price which is also the lowest amount of money that they can be signed for. However, this base price may rise on the auction table during the bidding wars among the franchises.
The Caribbeans have again topped the list for the auction. Leading the list are Shamar Joseph, Matthew Forde, Sheldon Cottrell and Odean Smith. Star pacer Naseem Shah is also among other Pakistanis who have registered for the auction.
Additionally, former New Zealand batter, Martin Guptill, Sri Lankan batter Kamindu Mendis, and Afghanistan spinner Qais Ahmad are also among the international players who are featured in the list.
Meanwhile, among the six SA20 franchises, Paarl Royals have the largest purse with R11.95 million remaining for the auction whereas Durban’s Super Giants have the smallest amount of R2.35 million remaining.
