The Plunket Shield 2020-21 season is set to resume on March 11.
The 92nd edition of New Zealand’s first-class cricket competition began in October last year and saw the first half of the schedule being played before Christmas. The tournament’s final stretch will be held from Thursday, March 11, and run till Tuesday, April 6.
Auckland, Canterbury, Central Stags, Northern Districts, Otago, and defending champions Wellington are the six teams contesting, over eight rounds, for the top honour in the competition.
Auckland are the most successful team in the Plunket Shield, having won the competition 23 times. Wellington are next with 21, followed by Canterbury (19).
Central Districts have won two of the last three Plunket Shield competitions.
Canterbury currently lead the table, a mammoth 20 points ahead of Northern Districts.
