The Pakistan Cup 2022 will commence on March 2 with a clash featuring defending champions Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Central Punjab at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad.
The opening day of the tournament will also witness Balochistan taking on Northern at House of Northern in Islamabad while Southern Punjab lock horns with Sindh at the Multan Cricket Stadium.
As per the format, the tournament will feature six teams fighting for bragging rights after 33 matches. Each team plays the other side in the competition twice in a round-robin format before the top four sides in the standings qualify for the semi-finals.
The two semi-finals and final will be held on March 28 and 29 while the Pakistan Cup 2022 final will take place on March 31. Both the semi-finals and final will be staged at the Multan Cricket Stadium.
Iqbal Stadium, Islamabad’s House of Northern and Multan Cricket Stadium are the three venues that will host the 33 matches.
As per Pakistan Cricket Board, the tournament will offer prize money of PKR 10 million. The winner of Pakistan Cup 2022 will get PKR 5 million while the runner-up will bag PKR 2.5 million.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa head into Pakistan Cup 2022 as defending champions, having beaten Central Punjab by seven wickets last year.
