The New Zealand vs Sri Lanka T20 2024-25 series will start in Mount Maunganui, Tauranga on Saturday, December 28.
As per the New Zealand vs Sri Lanka T20 2024-25 schedule, the first two games of the three-match series will be played at the Bay Oval on December 28 and 30.
The two teams will later travel to Nelson for the third and final T20I scheduled to be held at the Saxton Oval on January 2.
New Zealand are currently ranked sixth in the ICC men’s T20I team rankings while Sri Lanka are placed two spots below on eighth.
Ahead of the home series, the New Zealand national cricket team has announced their T20I squad to be led by Mitchell Santner.
Flamboyant middle-order batter Bevon Jacobs has received his maiden national call-up. Top-order batter Tim Robinson, wicketkeeper Mitchell Hay and pacer Zakary Foulkes have also been included in the Kiwis’ T20I squad.
Meanwhile, fast bowler Will O'Rourke has been rested for the upcoming three-match T20I series.
Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell and Matt Henry have also made a comeback in the New Zealand’s T20I squad after being rested for the recent Sri Lanka tour.
However, the hosts will miss several of their star players including the likes of Kane Williamson, Devon Conway, Finn Allen, Tim Seifert, Adam Milne and Lockie Ferguson due to their commitments in the BBL and SA20.
On the other hand, the Sri Lanka national cricket team has also named an unchanged T20I squad for the away series against the Kiwis.
Batting all-rounder Charith Asalanka will once again lead the 16-man squad in New Zealand.
Bhanuka Rajapaksa has retained his place in Sri Lanka’s T20I squad while only left-arm spinner Dunith Wellalage was left out from the squad that faced the same opposition at home in November.

The New Zealand vs Sri Lanka T20 head-to-head favours the Black Caps. New Zealand have won 14 of the 25 T20Is while Sri Lanka have registered eight victories so far. Two matches were tied which Sri Lanka won both in Super Overs while one game ended in no result.
The last time these two sides met, Sri Lanka and New Zealand featured in a two-match series which ended 1-1 in Dambulla in November.
