The West Indies tour of Netherlands features a three-match ODI series starting on Tuesday, May 31. All the matches will be a part of the 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League.
With Kieron Pollard retiring from international cricket and Jason Holder rested, the West Indies cricket team will be led by Nicholas Pooran in the Netherlands. Apart from Holder, the likes of Shimron Hetmyer and Evin Lewis have also been left out.
For Hetmyer, while he was given some time off for the birth of his first child, Lewis was omitted as he failed to meet Cricket West Indies’ fitness criteria.
In turn, the team has included as many as three new faces. This includes fast bowlers Jayden Seales and Shermon Lewis while specialist batter Keacy Carty is added too.
Interestingly, West Indies do have a direct qualification place in next year’s ODI World Cup as they are 10th in the Super League points table. After the Netherlands series, they will have three more games to play and if they fail to achieve a direct berth, they will have to play a qualifier tournament.
All three ODIs in this tour will be played at the VRA Cricket Ground in Amstelveen,
