The Netherlands cricket team will host Ireland for a three-match ODI series starting Wednesday at the Sportpark Maarschalkerweerd in Utrecht.
The Netherlands, on one hand, are coming off a 1-1 drawn series against Scotland and will be eager to register an ODI series win against Ireland.
Ryan ten Doeschate and Roelof van der Merwe, two of the most experienced names in Dutch cricket, won’t be part of the series as their respective English county sides - Essex and Somerset - didn’t relieve them for national duty.
Ireland, meanwhile, have recalled senior players William Porterfield and George Dockrell to their squad for the ODIs against Netherlands.
The Irishmen have played six games in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League, and have lost five games which includes back-to-back series defeats to England (1-2) and Afghanistan (0-3).
The Netherlands, who made their ODI debut in 1996 against New Zealand, are set to make their debut in the Super League having qualified for the 13-team competition way back in December 2017.
