The Buchi Babu Cricket Tournament 2024 began on August 15 and will run till September 11 in Tamil Nadu.
As many as 12 teams will compete in a total of 15 first-class matches in the Buchi Babu Cricket Tournament 2024.
As per the Buchi Babu Cricket Tournament 2024 format, these participating teams have been divided into four groups of three teams each.
Group A comprises Hyderabad, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh while the likes of Gujarat, Railways and TNCA President’s XI are placed in Group B.
Haryana, Ranji Trophy holders Mumbai and TNCA XI are clubbed in Group C.
Group D includes Baroda, Chhattisgarh, Jammu and Kashmir.
Each team will play the other sides in four-day matches in a round-robin format. The table-topper from each group will advance to the semi-final.
The Buchi Babu Cricket Tournament 2024 final will be played from September 8 to September 11.
Madhya Pradesh are the defending champions of the Buchi Babu Cricket Tournament after they defeated Delhi by a massive 250 runs in the 2023 final in September.
Meanwhile, Indian Railways’ Ayan Chaudhury and Madhya Pradesh’s Parush Mandal picked up five-wicket hauls in Round 1 of the Buchi Babu Cricket Tournament 2024 in Tamil Nadu.
Railways left-arm spinner Ayan Chaudhury registered figures of 5/85 in the second innings to guide his side to a 139-run victory over Gujarat at the Salem Cricket Foundation Ground.
Having claimed two wickets in the first innings, Ayan finished the match with seven wickets in the first round of the Buchi Babu Cricket Tournament 2024.
Madhya Pradesh pacer Parush Mandal recorded figures of 5/42 against Jharkhand in the first innings of their opening fixture.
Despite Mandal’s brilliant spell, Madhya Pradesh lost the game by two wickets.
The likes of Lakshay Sangwan, Raj Chaudhary, Shubham Singh, Musheer Khan, Abid Mushtaq, Abid Mushtaq, Amit Rana and Adheer Pratap Singh have picked up five wickets in Round 1 of the ongoing Buchi Babu Cricket Tournament.
