The Buchi Babu Cricket Tournament 2024 started on August 15 and will run till September 11 in Tamil Nadu.
Organised by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA), the Buchi Babu Cricket Tournament 2024 will see as many as 12 teams compete in a total of 15 first-class matches ahead of the 2024-25 domestic season.
As per the Buchi Babu Cricket Tournament 2024 schedule, each team will play the other sides in four-day matches in a round-robin format. The table-topper from each group will advance to the semi-final.
The winners of the two semi-finals will clash in the Buchi Babu Cricket Tournament 2024 final scheduled to be played from September 8 to September 11.
Group A features Hyderabad, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh while Gujarat, Railways and TNCA President’s XI are placed in Group B.
Haryana, Ranji Trophy holders Mumbai and TNCA XI are clubbed in Group C.
Group D comprises Baroda, Chhattisgarh, Jammu and Kashmir.
India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer and Sarfaraz Khan are some of the well known cricketers who are taking part in the 2024 edition.
Meanwhile, the first round of the Buchi Babu Cricket Tournament 2024 witnessed some scintillating performances from the batters.
Jammu and Kashmir opening batter Shubham Khajuria slammed a magnificent double century against Chhattisgarh in Round 1 of the Buchi Babu Cricket Tournament 2024.
The 28-year-old right-handed batter scored 202 off 368 balls, laced with 17 fours and eight sixes.
Shubham Khajuria’s double ton helped Jammu and Kashmir register a first innings lead as the match later ended in a draw.
On the other hand, Gujarat’s Manan Hingrajia hit a fifty (65) in the first innings and followed it with an impressive hundred (102) in the second innings against Indian Railways at the Salem Cricket Foundation Ground in the first round.
Despite Manan Hingrajia’s dazzling performances, Gujarat suffered a 139-run defeat in the game.
The likes of Ishan Kishan, Prateek Yadav, Pratham Singh, Dheeru Singh, Ayush Pandey, Vivek Singh, Aniket Verma, Sahab Yuvraj and Sahil Lotra have scored brilliant centuries in the first round of the ongoing Buchi Babu Cricket Tournament.
