Live streaming, Meltl Shield 2024 begins on August 24: Where to watch in India - full schedule

The Meltl Shield 2024 is all set to begin on August 24. The tournament will consist of nine matches with the last match to be played on August 25. 

The two-day competition will witness the signature 10-over format of ECN matches. 

Organised by the European Cricket Network (ECN), the inaugural Meltl Shield promises to showcase the top women players from across Europe and the British Isles. 

The tournament is named after Manuela Meltl-Weston, wife of ECN founder Daniel Weston.

All matches will be hosted at the Roma Cricket Ground in Italy. The two teams participating in the tournament are Team Europe and British & Irish Roses. 

The Meltl Shield 2024 was inspired by the growing opportunities for women in cricket. The recently concluded ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier 2024 saw intense matches involving associate nations like the UAE Women, the USA Women, Ireland Women, etc. 

Sri Lanka Women won the final match of the qualifying event while Scotland Women were runners-up. Along with other nations like India Women, Australia Women, etc, these teams will fight for the title of the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. The mega-event will be hosted in Bangladesh later this year. 

The Meltl Shield 2024 is expected to bring local talent to the forefront to contribute to the growth of Women’s cricket in the years to come.
