Cricket West Indies (CWI) have decided to take down Jason Holder and Carlos Brathwaite from their roles as skippers of ODI and T20I teams respectively. In turn, reports have it that all-rounder Kieron Pollard has been given the reigns of the limited-over formats.

The board has reportedly taken this decision after a disappointing home series against India in which the team failed to register a single win. The only game they didn’t lose was an ODI that was abandoned due to wet outfield.

In the CWI Board of Director’s meeting on Saturday, six of the directors were in favor of the decision while other six disagreed to appoint Kieron Pollard as the captain of West Indies across the limited-over formats, states a report from Trinidad and Tobago Guardian.

The 32-year-old giant last played an ODI in 2016 and served as a reserve for the team in the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup, where they could manage only two victories to finish ninth in the ten-team tournament. He featured in three T20Is against India in the recently concluded series and scored 115 runs which included one half-century.

The all rounder has a reputation of hitting the ball hard and even taking wickets at crucial moments in the game. His abilities of being a match winner has always given him a place in T20 franchise cricket leagues all over the world.

Meanwhile, West Indies are all set to play three T20Is, three ODIs and one Test match against Afghanistan in Dehradun, which begins from 5th November.
