Team Hyderabad, on Saturday, announced that Kane Williamson will replace David Warner as their new captain for the remainder of their Indian T20 League 2021 campaign.
The New Zealand international, who missed the first three games of the ongoing season nursing an elbow injury, has since aggregated 108 runs from his last three innings. Surprisingly, Williamson has yet to be dismissed after registering scores of 16*, 66* and 26*.
David Warner is facing scrutiny for his decisions, one being his decision to leave out Jonny Bairstow in the Super Over of their game against Delhi. To add to his woes, the Australian opener is also struggling for form at the top of the order having scored just 193 runs.

Additionally, Hyderabad also announced that they will be changing their overseas combination for the game against Rajasthan on Sunday, May 2, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
This isn't the first time Kane Williamson has been handed the captaincy reins. The 30-year-old led Hyderabad in the 2018 edition after the franchise sacked Warner as captain following his involvement in the ball-tampering scandal and his subsequent one-year suspension.
Team Hyderabad are currently rock-bottom of the Indian T20 League points table with two points, having won their only game against Punjab this season so far.
