From one incredible fielder to another, South African legend Jonty Rhodes has advised India’s Suresh Raina to ‘listen to his body’ following the latter’s knee surgery.

Raina, 32, has long been facing discomfort in his knee and was finally operated on Friday in Amsterdam, with BCCI confirming it will take at least 4-6 week of rehab for the southpaw to be back in the action again. Reacting to the news, Rhodes extended his sympathies and advised him to take it slow from this point on.

"@ImRaina u have been an inspiration to so many with your incredible work ethic over your career, especially these last couple of years. Listen to your body now my friend - knowing u, u will want to be out training tomorrow #aramse," tweeted Jonty Rhodes.

Having played his last ODI for India in July 2018 against England, his participation in the Vijay Hazare Trophy next month, playing for Uttar Pradesh, is now in doubt. And with the T20 World Cup coming up, he would be hoping to get back on the field as soon as he can.

As of now, Raina has played 18 Tests, 226 ODIs and 78 T20Is for India, while scoring 786, 5615 and 1605 runs in respective formats. A part of the 2011 and 2015 World Cup squad, Raina lost his place in the team after playing a solitary series on the road to the 2019 Cricket World Cup. And while he was in and out in the shortest format of the game, he was out of the ODI squad from October 2016 to July 2018.

Meanwhile, Rhodes’ kind words have gathered several accolades from the nation, and this is how the fans are reacting to it:
