Jason Gillespie quits coaching due to a disappointing Pakistan national team stint
Jason Gillespie was a successful cricketer during his playing days with Australia from 1996 to 2006. It was derailed by injuries, including a broken leg and a shoulder injury that spelt the end of his career at only 30 years of age.
Gillespie took up coaching in 2010. His first stint was with the Mid West Rhinos in Zimbabwe. He bounced around England and Australia before joining Pakistan in April 2024. Gillespie signed a two-year deal but quickly resigned in December 2024.
Gillespie cannot stomach coaching now
Coaching Pakistan did not sit well with the former Aussie fast bowler. He said, ‘The Pakistan experience has soured my love for coaching, I’ll be honest. Full-time coaching right now is not on my agenda’.
Gillespie previously noted it was a challenging time with Pakistan, which led to his exit in December 2024.
