James Pamment joins Bangladesh squad as fielding coach for 2027 World Cup run

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed James Pamment as the national cricket team’s new fielding coach. His contract expires after the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in 2027. He replaced assistant coach Nic Pothas, who resigned in January 2025.
Pamment, 56, brings top-notch coaching experience to the role. He previously served as the fielding coach for Mumbai in the Indian Cricket League for six years before leaving last year.
Moreover, he held coaching positions with New Zealand cricket, including crucial roles for the senior national team, New Zealand A, and the Under-19 squad. He also briefly served as the interim coach for the United States national team.
In an ICC interview, Pamment expressed excitement about the new role. ‘I am eagerly looking forward to joining the players and the backroom staff ahead of the Zimbabwe series’.
Pamment will start his duties on April 20 in Sylhet, ahead of the team’s two-match Test series against Zimbabwe.
