In what could be a massive boost for Chennai ahead of their clash against the table toppers Delhi, star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja returned to the training after missing the previous game – against Mumbai – due to fever.
The downside, though, still remains the fact that their skipper MS Dhoni was nowhere to be seen. As Times of India quotes, the all-rounder was a part of his team’s three-hour training drill on Wednesday and is expected to be back in the starting line-up against Delhi at MA Chidambaram Stadium on Thursday.
It is for the first time since 2012 that Jadeja missed a game for Chennai, which ended his run of 97 consecutive games for his team. Meanwhile, uncertainties over Dhoni’s involvement against Delhi are still rife. The skipper, who has already missed one against – against Hyderabad away from home – due to a back issue was again unavailable against Mumbai due to sickness.
And Mumbai took full advantage as they ran out victorious by 46 runs. Chennai, on their part, gave batsman Ambati Rayudu the opportunity with gloves, but they might look for an alternative against Delhi as N Jagadeesan has been seen spending a considerable amount of time during the nets. Apart from the batting drills, Times of Indian also quotes that he was later seen doing the catching practice with the gloves.
Meanwhile, both Chennai and Delhi share the top spot with 16 points after 12 games – separated by net run rates – and for either side would confirm their place in the top two.
