IPL 2025: Capitals clinches narrow one-wicket win over Lucknow
Delhi Capitals (DC) pulled off a dramatic one-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 opener match last Monday. Chasing 210, DC recovered from a poor start, thanks to Ashutosh Sharma’s unmatched 66 runs off 31 balls.
LSG set a strong total of 209/8, powered by Mitchell Marsh’s intense 72 off 36 and Nicholas Pooran’s 75 off 30. Their innings started well but lost momentum in the final overs.
DC’s chase got off to an awful start as they already lost three wickets within the first 10 balls. At 65/5 in 6.4 overs, victory seemed far out of reach for the Capitals. However, Sharma played a match-winning bat, assisted by Vipraj Nigam and Tristan Stubbs, with 39 off 15 and 34 off 22, respectively.
