Injury blow for KKR: Umran Malik out, Chetan Sakariya steps in

The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) face a tough challenge, as fast bowler Umran Malik will miss IPL 2025 due to an injury. This loss hit the defending champions hard, as they had planned to rely on his speed and talent.
Umran Malik joined KKR during the IPL 2025 auction in Saudi Arabia for ₹75 lakh. He played for Sunrisers Hyderabad from 2021 to 2024. In 2022, he had his best season, taking 22 wickets in 14 matches.
To fill Malik's spot, KKR signed Chetan Sakariya. The left-arm bowler played in 19 IPL matches and took 20 wickets. He also represented India in one ODI and two T20Is. Sakariya played for the Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals before joining KKR. However, his performance dipped in the next two seasons, when he made only six wickets in five matches. KKR hopes he can step up and help the team succeed.
KKR's squad for IPL 2025 now includes Rinku Singh, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Quinton de Kock, and the new addition of Chetan Sakariya. The team must adjust quickly to prepare for the upcoming season without Malik.
