Indian T20 League table-toppers, Delhi, have confirmed the signing of Pravin Dubey as a replacement of spinner Amit Mishra, who is out for the rest of the season due to a finger injury.
Mishra was ruled out of the ongoing tournament earlier this month after hurting his finger in the first over while attempting a catch of Nitish Rana against Kolkata in Sharjah. Speaking about the spinner, Delhi confirmed that he underwent surgery and is currently recovering. As for Pravin Dubey, he is already in the UAE as he was working with the Bangalore camp as their net bowler.
Although Dubey is not new to the Indian T20 League setup, he is yet to make his debut in the competition. The spinner was signed by Bangalore back during the 2016 auction, and after failing to get into the starting XI for a couple of seasons, the team decided to part ways with the player. He, however, has continued to deliver in domestic cricket, especially in the Karnataka Premier League. He has also represented Karnataka in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy where he has picked 16 wickets at an average of 19.12 in T20s.
With seven wins after nine games, Delhi are on the verge of sealing a playoff berth. Up next for them is a high-flying Punjab team, who are coming on the back of two back-to-back victories against Bangalore and Mumbai. The two teams played each other in their opening game of the season and it took a Super Over to decide a winner. Delhi, nonetheless, came out on top.
