Chennai trounced Hyderabad by 6 wickets in match 44 of the Indian T20 League at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on September 30.
Riding on Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad's 75-run opening stand, Chennai got off to a fantastic start as Hyderabad bowlers failed to make early in-roads. Although Jason Holder's twin strikes in the 16th over ignited hopes in the Hyderabad camp, MS Dhoni and Ambati Rayudu's unbeaten 26-run stand made sure there were no further hiccups.
The win has confirmed Chennai's spot in the playoffs as they now look to consolidate their position in the top two.
