The much-awaited Indian T20 League 2022 will start on Saturday, March 26 as defending champions Chennai face Kolkata at the Wankhede Stadium.
A total of 74 matches will be played over a span of two months as 10 teams fight for the coveted title. The Indian T20 League 2022 final will be held on May 29.
Two new franchises Lucknow and Gujarat have been added to the tournament along with the existing eight other teams.
Mumbai are the most successful team in the Indian T20 League with five titles, followed by Chennai with four. Kolkata have won the title twice while Rajasthan, Hyderabad and the now-defunct Team Deccan have lifted the prestigious trophy once each.
Punjab, Bangalore and Delhi have never managed to get their hands on the coveted prize despite being a part of the league since its inception in 2008.
After the second half of Indian T20 League 2021 was held in UAE due to the rising coronavirus cases in India, the whole of the upcoming edition will be held in Maharashtra.
Wankhede Stadium and Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai and MCA Stadium in Pune will host the matches of Indian T20 League 2022.
The venues for the Indian T20 League 2022 playoff matches will be announced later.
