The Indian T20 League 2022 mega auction will take place on February 12 and 13 at the Hotel ITC Gardenia in Bengaluru, with a whopping 590 players (370 Indian. 220 overseas) going under the hammer.
The auction, which is scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM IST, will be conducted by Britain’s Hugh Edmeades, who has been an auctioneer in more than 2,500 auctions in his career. Watch the auction live!
The eight original teams were allowed to retain a maximum of four players with a cap set on two overseas and one uncapped player. After the teams had declared their retention lists, the new teams, Lucknow and Gujarat, were allowed to pick three players from the pool of unretained players.
Team Punjab will enter the Indian T20 League 2022 mega auction with the highest purse (INR 72 crore). Following them are Team Hyderabad (INR 68 crore), Team Rajasthan (INR 62 crore), Team Lucknow (INR 59 crore), and Team Bangalore (INR 57 crore).
As far as overseas players are concerned, a whopping 47 players from Australia will go under the hammer. West Indies (34), South Africa (33), New Zealand and England (24 each) follow suit.
