Two-time defending champions Mumbai defeated Punjab by six wickets in match 42 of Indian T20 League 2021 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
After Mumbai captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to field first, the five-time champions Mumbai restricted Punjab to a modest total of 135/6 in 20 overs. Jasprit Bumrah and Kieron Pollard were the standout bowlers for Mumbai as they bagged two wickets each. For Punjab, Aiden Markram was the lone performer with the bat as he scored 42 runs off 29 balls.
In reply, Saurabh Tiwary (45) and Hardik Pandya (40) powered Mumbai to a six-wicket victory to help them jump to fifth in the points table.
This is what fans expect from Hardik Pandya as he smashes his India teammate Mohammed Shami all-round the park to win the game for Mumbai. Much needed win for the defending champions as they stay in contention for the playoffs.
