The India vs Sri Lanka ODI Series 2024 will start in Colombo on Friday, August 2.

The Indian cricket team will head into the 50-over series brimming with confidence after they registered a 3-0 series win against hosts Sri Lanka in the recently-concluded T20I series.

Under new head coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Suryakumar Yadav, India won the first two T20Is comprehensively before the Men in Blue pulled off a miraculous win from the jaws of defeat in the final T20I in Pallekele to complete a 3-0 series whitewash.

India are currently the top-ranked men’s ODI team while Sri Lanka are placed seventh in the ICC men’s ODI team rankings.

Meanwhile, the visitors will be further bolstered by the return of ODI captain Rohit Sharma and talisman Virat Kohli for the upcoming three-match series.

Star batter Shubman Gill will be Rohit Sharma’s deputy in the ODI series against Sri Lanka.

Wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul and middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer have also returned to the ODI squad.

In the bowling department, young pacer Harshit Rana has received his maiden India call-up.

Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh and Khaleel Ahmed are the other fast bowlers in the 15-man squad. Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel are the two leading spinners in the squad.

On the other hand, the Sri Lanka national cricket team will aim to bounce back after their disappointing performance in the three-match T20I series.

Ahead of the India vs Sri Lanka ODI Series 2024, the hosts have announced their 16-member squad to be led by Charith Asalanka.

Young wicketkeeper-batter Nishan Madushka has been included in Sri Lanka’s ODI squad.

However, Sri Lanka will miss the services of experienced pacer Dushmantha Chameera due to bronchitis and respiratory infection while Nuwan Thushara has been ruled out after he fractured his thumb during training ahead of the India series.

Meanwhile, all the three India vs Sri Lanka ODI 2024 matches will be played at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
