The India vs New Zealand Test 2024 series will start in Bengaluru on Wednesday, October 16.

As per the India vs New Zealand Test 2024 schedule, both sides will compete in a three-match Test series, which is part of the ongoing ICC ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25.

The opening India vs New Zealand 2024 Test will be played at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The two sides will later travel to Pune to play the second Test scheduled to take place at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium starting on October 24.

The third and final Test will be played at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai beginning on November 1.

Ranked second in the ICC men’s Test team rankings, the Indian cricket team is currently placed on top of the WTC 2023-25 standings.

Having registered eight wins, one draw and suffered two losses, India has accumulated 98 points with a points percentage of 74.24.

Ahead of the India vs New Zealand Test 2024 series, the hosts have announced a star-studded 15-man squad to be led by Rohit Sharma.

India’s bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has been named vice-captain of the Test team for the upcoming three-match series.

Left-arm pacer Yash Dayal is the only player left out from India’s squad that defeated Bangladesh 2-0 in the recently-concluded two-match Test series at home.

Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav are the spinners included in the spin-heavy bowling attack. In the pace bowling department, Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep and Bumrah will also play a key role.

All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, and the pace bowling trio of Harshit Rana, Mayank Yadav and Prasidh Krishna have been named in the travelling reserves.

On the other hand, inaugural WTC winners, the New Zealand cricket team is currently placed sixth in the WTC 2023-25 standings with three victories and five defeats.

Currently ranked sixth in the ICC men’s Test team rankings, the Tom Latham-led New Zealand will aim to bounce back after going down 0-2 to Sri Lanka in a two-match Test series in Galle, Sri Lanka in September.

Meanwhile, the visitors have suffered a massive blow as their star batter Kane Williamson is likely to miss the first Test due to a groin injury.

Uncapped Mark Chapman has been included in New Zealand’s Test squad as a cover for Williamson.

Batting all-rounder Michael Bracewell could play in the first Test before returning home for the birth of his second child. Bracewell will be replaced by Ish Sodhi for the remainder of the Test series.
