The 2020 U19 World Cup kicks off on Friday (January 17) in South Africa, with 16 teams vying to get their hands on the trophy. The tournament will see countries like Japan and Namibia represented for the first time, while the more established sides like Australia and England in the mix and genuine title contenders.
Reigning U19 World Cup champions India also have a strong roster heading to South Africa with some fine young players like Yashashvi Jaiswal, Priyam Garg and Ravi Kishnoi. Here’s a look at India’s schedule, broadcast details, tournament format and much more.

India’s schedule for the U19 World Cup
A total of 16 teams will be participating at the 2020 U19 World Cup, divided into four groups of four. India has been placed in Group D alongside New Zealand, Sri Lanka and Japan. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super League at the U19 World Cup, while the other two will play in the Plate League.
Jan 19: India U19 vs Sri Lanka U19
Jan 21: India U19 vs Japan U19
Jan 24: India U19 vs New Zealand U19
The semi-finals of the 2020 U19 World Cup will be played on the February 4 and February 6, with the final being played on February 9.
Broadcast details for India’s U19 World Cup games
All of India’s games as well as the rest of the tournament will be broadcasted on the Star Sports network, as well as Hotstar. The three group games of the defending champions are expected to start at 1:30 pm IST, with all three of their matches being played at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein. The finals of the 2020 U19 World Cup final will be played at the Senwes Park in Potchefstroom.
