After exiting the T20 World Cup 2022 in the semi-finals, India and New Zealand face each other in a limited overs bilateral involving three T20Is and three ODIs.
In their previous visit to New Zealand for a limited series in 2020, India completed a sensational 5-0 whitewash in the T20s. However, New Zealand fought back in the three-match ODI series and won it 3-0 to share the spoils.
India have rested skipper Rohit Sharma for this tour, who will be in action next in the Bangladesh tour which begins on December 4. Hardik Pandya will take over as T20I captain, while Shikhar Dhawan returns to lead the ODI contingent.
Pace bowler Umran Malik returned to the T20I setup and also received a call-up in the ODI squad. Kuldeep Sen received his first international call, making it to the T20I squad.
Meanwhile, Deepak Chahar, Washington Sundar and Sanju Samson are back in the mix for the tour. Samson and Sundar made it to both the squads, whilst Deepak Chahar, who is recovering from a back injury, joins the ODI squad.
Not a lot of changes have been made to the New Zealand squad that featured in the T20 World Cup 2022. The Kiwis, just like India, had topped the group stage in the T20 World Cup but lost to Pakistan in the semi-final at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
India have the upperhand in T20Is against the Black Caps having won 11 matches, whilst Williamson’s men have won nine times. India’s 11 win-tally also includes two super-over wins from the five-match series in 2020.
The visiting side is marginally ahead in the ODI head-to-head as well, winning 55 matches while New Zealand have won 49.
The tour will begin with the three T20Is, followed by the ODI series which commences on November 25.
