The fight for the playoffs intensifies as Indian T20 League 2021 heads to its business end. With as many as six teams still in contention for the knockouts, expect some thrilling action in the upcoming week.
Ahead of some crucial must-win Indian T20 League 2021 games lined up, SportsAdda ambassador Brett Lee shared his predictions for week 3 of the competition in UAE during SportsAdda presents T20 Crazy, powered by Sportsbet.io.
Best bowler from Delhi against Mumbai
“I think Delhi have a sound bowling attack. They have got some real good pace up front, they have got some spin options and also the fast bowlers have got some wonderful changes as well so I think they (Delhi) will be suited to Sharjah as pace off the ball seems to be working at Sharjah so I think I’ll have to go Delhi,” Brett Lee stated.
The wicket at Sharjah in this year’s Indian T20 League has been on the slower side with teams struggling to get past the 150-run mark. With a quality pace attack backed by a potent spin bowling unit, it’s easy to understand why Brett Lee has predicted Delhi’s bowlers to shine in this crucial clash.
Chennai to win against Rajasthan
“I’ll have to go Chennai. The team in yellow are in form and are playing some really good cricket. MS Dhoni loves his players settled at this stage and that’s where they are at the moment,” Lee opined.
Chennai have been in stupendous form so far, becoming the first team to qualify for the playoffs of Indian T20 League 2021. Up against a side that has had a rollercoaster season, Brett Lee envisions MS Dhoni’s men emerging victorious against Rajasthan and continuing their dominant run that’s seen them win nine of their 11 matches so far.
AB de Villiers won’t score a fifty against Punjab
“I would like to say yes but I don’t think so. His form has not been the best of what we know of ABD but he is a fighter. I’m a fan of ABD, he’s a wonderful cricketer but I just don’t think on this occasion there is a fifty on the board. Maybe even a 20 or 30. Maybe he can prove me wrong. I hope he does for his sake but I’m going to say no,” Binga predicted.
AB de Villiers has been short of runs in the UAE-leg of the Indian T20 League. With just 27 runs in four innings so far, Lee feels the South African will struggle to get going for Bangalore against Punjab next week.
Venkatesh Iyer to be Kolkata’s top-scorer against Hyderabad
“I am going to go with V. Iyer, I think he has been a wonderful find for Kolkata. He has a beautiful technique, great temperament and enjoys hitting fours, I love that about him so he is definitely going to be my player,” Lee heaped praise on the Kolkata opener.
Venkatesh Iyer has been a great addition to the Kolkata team at the top of the batting order. Opening the innings for his side, the 26-year-old has made some vital contributions and has had an instant impact on the team with his audacious strokeplay. The southpaw will fancy his chances against a deflated Hyderabad unit that is out of playoff contention.
Delhi to hit maximum sixes against Chennai
“I am going to with Delhi, I feel they have got a very powerful packed top six and I reckon they will hit more sixes. So for me, it’s Team Blue - Delhi ” Brett Lee concluded.
Despite Chennai hitting the most number of sixes (88) in the tournament so far, the former Australian quick predicted that Delhi would hit maximum sixes in the encounter against Chennai at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. With power-hitters like Shimron Hetmyer, Rishabh Pant and Lalit Yadav in their ranks, Delhi will fancy their chances against MS Dhoni’s men.
