Some of the world’s finest emerging talent is on display at the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2024, which began on January 19 and will run till February 11 in South Africa.
Organised by the International Cricket Council (ICC), the 15th edition of the ICC U19 World Cup features 16 teams competing for the top prize.
The ICC U19 World Cup 2024 has already witnessed some future batting stars produce a few scintillating knocks for their respective nations.
India’s trio of Musheer Khan, Uday Saharan, Sachin Dhas, the South African duo of Lhuan-dre Pretorius, Steve Stolk and Scotland’s Jamie Dunk have been some of the leading run-scorers in the ongoing tournament.
Dewald Brevis holds the record for the most runs in a single edition of the ICC U19 World Cup. Representing South Africa, Brevis amassed 506 runs in six matches in 2022.
Eoin Morgan has the most runs in ICC U19 World Cup history. Having played for Ireland U19 in the 2004 and 2006 editions, Morgan accumulated 606 runs in 13 games at an average of above 50.
Apart from Brevis and Morgan, the likes of Virat Kohli, Babar Azam, Kane Williamson, Shikhar Dhawan, Shubman Gill and Shaun Marsh are some of the international cricketers who made a name for themselves by performing well at the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup in previous editions.
