The ICC T20 World Cup 2024 schedule was announced by the official broadcasters Star Sports on Friday, January 5.
The United States will take on Canada in the opening match of the tournament at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, Texas on June 1.
Organised by the International Cricket Council (ICC), the ninth edition of the ICC T20 World Cup will see as many as 20 teams compete for the coveted title to be hosted by the West Indies and the United States from June 1-29. The number of teams has been increased from 16 to 20 for the 2024 edition.
As per the tournament format, these participating teams have been split into four groups of five teams each.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super 8 stage.
In this round, the qualifying teams will be divided into two groups of four teams each. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals.
The winner of the two semi-finals will clash in the final scheduled to be held at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados on June 29.
The Indian cricket team is placed in Group A alongside arch-rivals Pakistan, Ireland, Canada and the United States.
The Men in Blue will begin their campaign against Ireland on June 5 at the Eisenhower Park in New York.
The much-awaited India vs Pakistan ICC T20 World Cup 2024 match will be played at the Eisenhower Park in New York on June 9.
Following the opening two matches, India will take on co-hosts USA on June 12 and face Canada on June 15. All India matches will start at 8:30 PM IST.
Defending champions England cricket team will face Scotland in their first match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on June 4. Get ICC T20 World Cup 2024 schedule.
