The ICC Men's T20 World Cup Sub Regional East Asia-Pacific Qualifier B 2024 will begin at the Yeonhui Cricket Ground at Incheon, South Korea on Saturday, September 28.
Host South Korea, Japan, Indonesia and Philippines are the four teams that will take part in the tournament.
The ICC Men's T20 World Cup Sub Regional East Asia-Pacific Qualifier B 2024 is part of the qualification process conducted by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the Men’s T20 World Cup in 2026 to be hosted jointly by India and Sri Lanka.
Each team will play two matches against the other three sides in a double round-robin league phase with the group-topper being declared winners of the tournament. All the matches will be held at the Yeonhui Cricket Ground in Incheon, South Korea.
There will be a total of 12 matches in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Sub Regional East Asia-Pacific Qualifier B 2024 with two matches each day from September 28 to October 5 and two rest days in between.
Out of the four teams in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Sub Regional East Asia-Pacific Qualifier B 2024, Japan are the top-ranked T20I side at 50th in ICC’s latest ranking list.
Philippines are ranked 58th whereas Indonesia are in the 60th place. Meanwhile, host South Korea are not ranked in the current list.
The winners of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Sub Regional East Asia-Pacific Qualifier B 2024 will proceed to the regional final which will have a total of nine teams participating in it.
The top-three teams from the regional final tournament, to be held in 2025, will qualify for the T20 World Cup 2026.
Nepal, Oman and Papua New Guinea, having played in the T20 World Cup 2024, received byes in the sub-regional qualifiers and will directly feature in the regional final.
They will be joined by four teams, two each from Qualifier A and Qualifier B of the Asia sub-regionals. The regional final will also have the winners of the East Asia Pacific sub-regional qualifier A and B rounding off the nine-team list.
Currently, Kuwait and Malaysia from Qualifier A of Asia sub-regionals and Samoa from Qualifier A of the East Asia sub-regionals have made it to the regional final.
