The International Cricket Council (ICC) have announced the warm-up fixtures for all the 16 qualified teams of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, to be held in Australia from October 16.
The Indian cricket team is scheduled to play warm-up games against hosts Australia and New Zealand on October 17 and October 19, respectively, at the Gabba in Brisbane.
The First Round teams will play their warm-up games between October 10 and 13 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and Junction Oval. Meanwhile, the teams that have qualified for the Super 12 round are set to play their warm-up matches at the Gabba in Brisbane.
The top two teams from each group of the First Round will join Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Pakistan, New Zealand and South Africa who have already qualified for the Super 12, which will start on October 22.
Teams in the Super 12 are bifurcated into two groups consisting of six teams each. Afghanistan, Australia, England and New Zealand are in Group 1 while Group 2 has Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and South Africa.
West Indies will lock horns with United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the opening warm-up fixture at Junction Oval in Melbourne on October 10. Scotland are later scheduled to face the Netherlands at the same venue in the other warm-up encounter on the same day. Sri Lanka will square off against Zimbabwe in the final warm-up game at the same venue later that day.
Australia head into the tournament as defending champions, having defeated their trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand by eight wickets in the 2021 final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
