The International Cricket Council (ICC) revealed that the winners of the ICC Awards 2023 will be announced from Monday, January 22.
The awards will be handed out following the end of the voting period that witnessed both media representatives and fans from cross the globe pick their top-performing cricketers in men’s and women’s international cricket from the previous calendar year, which was January 1 to December 31, 2023.
Five Teams of the Year recipients will be given out across Monday and Tuesday before the 13 individual award winners will be announced on Wednesday and Thursday.
Furthermore, the ICC also confirmed that the five teams were selected by an independent panel of media representatives that form the ICC Voting Academy
The first couple of awards will be handed out on Monday, 22 January, with the Men’s T20I Team of the Year and Women’s T20I Team of the Year. This will be followed by the Men’s ODI Team of the Year and Women’s ODI Team of the Year and the Men’s Test Team of the Year on Tuesday, 23 January.
The individual awards will be announced on Wednesday, 24 January and it will culminate with the coveted Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy for ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year and the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year on Thursday, January 25.
The last edition of the ICC awards in 2022 saw Pakistan’s Babar Azam crowned as the men’s cricketer of the year, while England’s Nat Sciver bagged the women’s cricketer of the year prize.
Ahead of the 2023 ceremony, India’s Virat Kohli and Australia’s Pat Cummins are a couple of the favourites to win a few of the honours in the individual categories, while Australia are expected to win the team categories.
