Replacing Zimbabwe, who have been suspended by the ICC, Namibia are all set to compete in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier 2019, beginning from August 31, where they will lock horns with last time’s runners-up, Ireland on the opening day.
Namibia will be joined by the likes of Scotland, Bangladesh, Ireland, Netherlands, Papa New Guinea, Thailand and USA to fight for the remaining two spots of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020. They had finished second in the African regional qualifiers, while the Netherlands (Europe), Papua New Guinea (East-Asia Pacific), Thailand (Asia) and the USA (Americas) came on the back of winning their respective qualifiers.

As for the final qualifiers, eight teams are divided into two groups, with the likes of Bangladesh, Papua New Guinea, Scotland and USA acquiring Group A, while Ireland, Namibia, Netherlands and Thailand are in Group B. The winners of the two semifinals will ensure themselves a place at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 to be held in the Australian cities of Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney from 21 February to 8 March next year.
Meanwhile, for the Men’s T20 World Cup qualifiers, Nigeria will take the 14th and the final spot in place of Zimbabwe. They will be joined by UAE, Hong Kong, Ireland, Jersey, Kenya, Namibia, Netherlands, Oman, Papua New Guinea, Scotland, Singapore and two teams from the Americas Final. These teams will battle for a place in the World Cup to be held in the UAE in October 2020.
